Law Student's Dash of Desperation

Student Contribution: Priyanka Sharma

In a terrible turn of events that tested (mostly) their endurance, a Deakin University law student found themselves in a race against time after realising they had forgotten their ID just ten minutes before their in person law exam.

Well-prepared and brimming with confidence, the Deakin Law Student decided that they had time to spare, so why not park in the LC parking and get some steps in! As they parked their car, grabbing their notes, they made their way towards the building. Getting coffee as fuel from Fusion, they brave the bridge. Just as they were about to enter their exam room on the other side of campus, a sudden realisation struck: their student ID, required for exam entry, was in their other bag—left behind in their car.

Panic set in as they glanced at their watch. The exam was set to begin in ten minutes. The student knew they had to act fast. The only way to retrieve the ID was to traverse the infamous Deakin Bridge, infamous for being a looooooong bridge.

Fuelled by a surge of adrenaline, the student took off at a sprint. The bridge seemed to stretch on forever as they dodged fellow students.

Time ticked away as the student pushed through, their mind racing with thoughts of missing the exam and the potential consequences. They finally reached the other side, dashed to their car, and retrieved their ID from their bag.

With only a few minutes remaining, they embarked on the return journey, sprinting back across the bridge. Their lungs burned, and their legs ached, but they pressed on, determined not to let this oversight ruin their exam.

As they approached the exam hall, the student’s heart pounded in their chest. They made it with mere seconds to spare, flashing their ID at the invigilator, who gave them a knowing smile. Breathless but relieved, the student took their seat, their dramatic dash across campus quickly becoming the stuff of legend.
