Witness Examination

 

 

Witness examination involves a team of two students acting as junior and senior barristers, examining and cross-examining two witnesses in order to extract information relevant to either the prosecution or defence’s case. Objections are encouraged!

 

Workload

Students will be required to be familiar with the area of criminal law at question (i.e. assault). However, minimal preparation is required!

 

Time frame

The competition will run for approximately 60 minutes. That time is inclusive of both teams speaking and the judges providing a brief post analysis.

 

Formality

This competition is formal; business attire is required. Judges may interrupt counsel to ask them questions. Court etiquette is essential.
