Following the success of the JD Representatives in 2018, positions for two Juris Doctor Representatives are now open!
In order for the DLSS to represent all Deakin law students, we believe it is essential that our committee is also truly representative. The purpose of this position is to facilitate greater engagement between the DLSS, Law School and JD students, and to bring about informed change to the JD curriculum with the full support of the DLSS’ reputation and resources. The JD representative will lead and advocate for their cohort and create events for JD student at Deakin. As JD students are all online, it is a unique challenge to create events to bring students together.
We are looking for two JD students who have strong time management organisational, advanced communication and oratory skills and a passion for assisting the wider student body.
JD reps are expected to:
- Advocate JD student concerns to the Law School;
- Foster a strong relationship between undergraduate and JD students;
- Plan events to introduce JD students to one another;
- Explore more methods of engaging students and creating a more collegiate culture that is excited by LSS events; and
- Attend all DLSS events and meetings.
This role is very flexible throughout the year but will generally be 5-10 hours per week.
