Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre (BMCLC) is currently seeking applications for 2 volunteer Criminal Law paralegal roles based at their St Albans office.
If you are interested in social justice, gaining criminal law experience and working with clients who are socially and economically marginalised, please consider applying.
The paralegal position will be essential in assisting the running of their Centre’s new specialist criminal law clinic. The role requires a dynamic and motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for a volunteer to gain practical knowledge in summary criminal offences under the supervision of the Centre’s principal solicitor and accredited criminal law specialist.
The successful volunteers must be available Monday afternoon’s on a weekly basis. The role will require a 12 month commitment.
The successful volunteers must be prepared to travel to St Albans
Experience in criminal law matters or a strong interest in developing summary criminal law skills.
Strong communication, interpersonal skills and relationship building skills.
Resilient and self-motivated.
Strong legal drafting skills.
Ability engage with a diverse client base.
Commitment to the principles of Community Legal Centres.
