The Deakin Law Students’ Society proudly presents Women in Law 2015, a two hour up-close and personal session with some of the best and brightest in the legal field.
The aim of the event is to celebrate the triumphs and emergence of women in the legal industry over the past few decades and to look into the future at the crucial role that women will play.
This year’s event will begin with a 15 minute keynote speaker, followed by an interactive panel discussion regarding the success, developments and opportunities for women in the field of law.
The opening keynote will be delivered by Helen Fatouros, the Director of Criminal Law Services Victorian Legal Aid. The panellists will include representatives from Herbert Smith Freehills, King & Wood Mallesons, Allens Linklaters, Maurice Blackburn, Clayton Utz, Corrs Chambers Westgarth and Australian National University.
The panel session will focus on each firm’s women in the law: their successes, unique qualities and strengths they bring to the workforce. We’ll also discuss flexibility and lifestyle within firms, and consider firm culture.
This is a fantastic opportunity to look to the future of firms and the workforce, and be inspired by driven and talented women who are leaders in their field. This is a free event for students and a fantastic last-minute networking opportunity for all those penultimate students heading into clerkship applications!
